Falling Down the Stairs
I know that some of you will read the title and think, "Oh no which one of Cindy's kids fell down the stairs?" Well as awful as that would have been it wasn't my kids it was me. How long has it been since you have fallen down the stairs? Try to avoid it at all costs. It hurts. Yesterday morning I was holding Nathan (my 7 month old son, who weights 20 pounds, lovingly refer ed to as my medicine ball by his Uncle Jon) who was a bit squirmy. Because of his squirmyness I luckily didn't carry down the glass cup and plastic bowl I was debating taking to the kitchen. When whoosh my feet came right out from under me and down I went. I live in an older house and the stairs are very steep I was about 6 from the bottom, out of 18, and landed right on my back. I believe I was very blessed to land where I did, up on my shoulder blades, so I didn't break anything. If I had landed lower on my ribs I would have cracked a rib or two I really believe. It knocked the wind right out of me and I was in a lot of pain. I slid down the rest of the stairs and checked to make sure that I hadn't hurt my baby. My daughter Sarah was awake with me at the time, by the way this all happened before 8:30 a.m. and I had to mouth to her to get me the phone. I couldn't breathe yet so it wasn't easy trying to ask her for the phone. She looked all over me for it not realizing I didn't mean a cell phone and that I just needed a phone to call someone. Sarah did bring me the phone and I called my husband Tim. He works in Jamestown and that is 30 miles away. I knew though that I couldn't pick up Nathan and I would really need some help through out the day. My in-laws who live in Sherman with me are on vacation in Michigan and Wisconsin this week, of all the weeks to fall, because she could have easily come over and helped me for the day but my loving husband got right in the car and was home before 9. I am not sure how fast he went I just know that he was really concerned for us. So Tim stayed home the rest of the day with me and took care of things. I am so thankful to the Lord for not having me land where I was seriously injured, although it hurts today still. And also I thank God for a loving husband who would drop everything and come home and rescue me. So take my advice and don't fall down the stairs it hurts!

I am glad you weren't seriously hurt!
I have fallen down (and up) a few stairs in my life....Last night the nightlight in the kid's room blew out and when I took Jeremy down to change him I almost fell down...and then on the way up I knocked or rather bounced his head off the wall at the top of the stairs....thank goodness for a husband (Tim) who would leave work for you...great priorities!
I've fallen down the stairs once with each kid - not as badly as you, but my instincts were always all about not letting the baby hit anything so I was hurtin' afterwards. Hope your pains heal quickly!
You poor thing! I am glad the baby was fine and your husband was able to come and help you!
Thanks for visiting my site and leaving me a comment! :-)
Oh, man, do i ever agree here! i fell yesterday! Really bruised my leg and foot and ripped off part of a toe nail. I was holding my 22 month old and am 22 weeks pregnant! NO. FUN. I have fallen EVERY pregnancy! Down stairs. I fell when Caeden was nearly a month old and he actually fell out of my arms and hit the side walk with him HEAD. Needless to say, i about DIED! We rushed him to the hospital and by God's grace, he was perfectly fine. But THAT was a hirrible moment!
